Viafirma takes part in the MOMENTUM project, a commitment to online security

The project proposes an innovative system that ensures safe navigation and user privacy on online services: MOMENTUM, presented jointly by Seidor Consulting SL, Ayco Internet SL and Servicios Avanzados para las Instituciones SL, with the support of Gradiant as an investigation organism.

VIVANSI, specialised company in ICT solutions, also takes part in MOMENTUM – Multibiometrics applied to mobile devices security, a proposal that aims to transform the business environment and offer suitable mechanisms for achieving a safer digital society.

The security and privacy of the users while accessing and using online privates services lie nowadays in two essential pillars: the use of authentication mechanisms and digital certificates. In both cases, using passwords as a single authentication method could entail big risks, most on mobile environments. Protecting these contents is crucial, since we are increasingly accessing operations on our smartphones every day.

MOMENTUM is a project that offers an integral solution to mitigate problems derived from the lack of security online. It proposes a fusion of biometric recognition modalities on mobile devices, from facial, voice and hand signature recognition to access to services of signatures and online digital encryption.

As a result of the MOMENTUM project, a multibiometric authentication system for mobile devices has been developed. For this purpose, during the project the work has been focused on the development and optimization of the biometric modalities of facial, voice and hand signature recognition. After that, a multimodal authentication mechanism was achieved, getting advantage of the complementarities among the authentication systems and designing strong fusion schemes. This new systems is more secure, more available and more usable than monomodal authentication mechanisms.

To demonstrate and validate the system, it has been implemented to an advanced signature system in the cloud. In this system, the user access through biometric verification from their own mobile device, thus accessing to certificates and the signature of the document in a safe way.

Thanks to the support from the Spanish Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), the project was able to go in depth in the technical, strategical and economical aspects required to explore its full potential.

This project was co-financed by the CDTI through the FEDER, Smart Growth Operative Program 2014-2020.

The project was jointly presented by Seidor Consulting SL, Ayco Internet SL and Servicios Avanzados para las Instituciones SL, with the shared objetives of fusing biometric modalities into an optimised suite for mobile platforms and adopting interoperability standards for biometric systems.

MOMENTUM relies on Gradiant as investigation organism and it is financed by the CTDI’s Scientific and Technical Research State Program through the FEDER, Smart Growth Operative Program 2014-2020, aimed to encourage the regional cooperation on research and development.
