{"id":101423,"date":"2026-04-28T14:10:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T12:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/?post_type=faq&#038;p=101423"},"modified":"2026-05-19T13:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T11:12:10","slug":"restrictions-for-sending-sms-to-spain","status":"publish","type":"faq","link":"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/en\/faqs\/restrictions-for-sending-sms-to-spain\/","title":{"rendered":"Restrictions for sending SMS to Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to recent regulatory changes promoted by the National Commission on Markets and Competition \u2014 CNMC \u2014 the sending of SMS notifications in Spain has become strictly regulated in order to combat fraud and smishing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From 7 June 2026, telecom operators will automatically block any message that does not comply with the new sender identification requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sender Requirements and Restrictions \u2014 Alias<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For your notifications to be delivered correctly to recipients, the Alias \u2014 the name that appears as the sender on the mobile phone \u2014 must comply with the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><a href=\"https:\/\/sede.cnmc.gob.es\/tramites\/telecomunicaciones\/gestion-del-registro-de-alias\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mandatory Registration<\/a>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Every customised Alias must be duly registered in the CNMC public registry.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Length:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It must be between 3 and 11 characters long.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Format:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It cannot consist solely of numbers, unless it is a duly declared Spanish or international mobile number.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Prohibited Content:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The use of generic words, such as \u201cNotice\u201d, \u201cUrgent\u201d, \u201cAppointment\u201d or \u201cINFO\u201d, is not allowed.
