You may be used to handling electronic contracts in your company. However, when dealing with important electronically signed documents, <strong>we recommend to check their authenticity<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to know first?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Viafirma collects <strong>eSignatures<\/strong> and <strong>legal evidence from the signing process<\/strong>, which will be added to the document and available to be viewed from Adobe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>All information required to verify that the document has been electronically signed can be viewed in the <strong>signature panel<\/strong> and in the <strong>XML files attached<\/strong> to the PDF once the signing process is completed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at some examples to check where this data is located.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Document electronically signed with digital certificate<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Electronically signed documents are identified with a <strong>signature stamp<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17562\" title=\"signature stamp\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Viafirma-Cloud-Services.png\" alt=\"signature stamp\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This is a visual element that has <strong>information about the signature<\/strong>, together with the <strong>website and QR code to verify the signature details<\/strong>, although the most important thing is the data attached in the document.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If we open it in <em>Adobe<\/em> it will look as follows:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17564\" title=\"Sales contract to be signed electronically\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Contrato-comercial-demo.png\" alt=\"Sales contract to be signed electronically\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The system instantly recognizes that the document has been electronically signed with a valid certificate.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This is easily recognizable since there is an informative message at the top of the screen that says &#8221;<strong>Certified by VIAFIRMA CLOUD SERVICES, VIAFIRMA S.L. certificate issued by AC Firmaprofesional&#8217;<\/strong>&#8216;. If we use a converter to human time we will obtain:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17578\" title=\"Timestamp converter to human date\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Unix-epox-time.png\" alt=\"Timestamp converter to human date\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Therefore, the evidence was collected on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 9:41:38<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Now let&#8217;s enter the location of the signature using Google Maps:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17580\" title=\"Location of an electronic signature\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Location-Google-Maps.png\" alt=\"Location of an electronic signature\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If we return to the XML file, below we have <strong>information about the device used by the signer<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Next, <strong>the phone number<\/strong> to which the code was sent<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So as you can see, <strong>more information is collected when compared to the traditional handwritten signature.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Document electronically signed using biometric signature<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17582\" title=\"Sales contract to be signed with biometric signature\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sales-contract.png\" alt=\"Sales contract to be signed with biometric signature\" width=\"793\" height=\"592\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>In order to draw a biometric signature we must use specific devices designed for this purpose<\/strong>. Data such as the speed, stroke or pressure applied when signing will be collected.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>If we sign with the mouse of the PC or if we draw the signature with our finger on the phone screen, biometric data will not be collected<\/strong>. In the following image we can see an example of the attached XML file that will be generated.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17584\" title=\"XML file on biometric signature\" src=\"https:\/\/www.viafirma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/XML-File-Format-Biometric-signature.png\" alt=\"XML file on biometric signature\" width=\"700\" height=\"320\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As we can see, pressure values such as &#8220;pressureMaxValue&#8221; and &#8220;pressureMinValue&#8221; are set to zero in this case.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In case the signature was captured on a device capable of collecting biometric data, the values would be encrypted to prevent anyone else from replicating the same signature.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VALIDe<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>VALIDe is a free tool from the Spanish Government which allows any citizen to <strong>verify signed documents<\/strong>.
