How does the SMS sending service work at Viafirma?

We want to clear out any doubt about our platform and the SMS scenario.

It is essential to understand the nature of our notifications before addressing the legal requirements. Here is the gist of it in simple points:

  • Technology Solution, not an Operator: Viafirma is not a telecommunications provider or an SMS sending provider. We are a technology platform that facilitates the management of electronic signatures and related notifications.
  • Integration with Third Parties: For the physical delivery of SMS messages, Viafirma integrates with specialised providers authorised by the CNMC, such as Link Mobility or SMS Publi, among others.
  • Regulatory Context: Due to a global regulatory change, supervised in Spain by the CNMC, network operators are required to block any message whose ALIAS — the name that appears as the sender on the mobile phone — is not properly registered.

In short: Although Viafirma provides the technology, Alias registration compliance is an essential requirement imposed by operators and regulators to guarantee the security and delivery of your messages.

What happens if I do not register my own ALIAS?

If you decide not to complete this procedure or do not meet the established deadline, there is no need to worry: Viafirma has already started the registration process and you will always be able to use our default ALIAS.

This way, we ensure that your notification and signature service is not interrupted at any time, although the sender your customers will see on their mobile phone will be the generic sender of our platform rather than your customised one.
