The signature receipt, also known as stamper, stamp or CSV (secure verification code), does NOT modify the content of the PDF because we make it conform to the PDF signature standard.
This standard determines how and where these “graphical representations” (annotations according to the PDF data dictionary), and more specifically annotations associated with an electronic signature, can/should be used.
Therefore, as a summary, it does NOT modify the content. This is an annotation added on a layer enabled for this purpose in the PDF standard data dictionary.

In the context of Adobe Acrobat and PDF files, an “annotation” is basically any object or element that is added over the original content of the document, without modifying that underlying content.
Adobe is simply informing you of two correct and parallel facts:
- That the security of the signatures is valid.
- That the visual objects representing these signatures exist in the document and are classified as “annotations”.
